FRIENDSHIP IS LIKE A FLOWER

Friendship is like a flower,
Glowing in its glory,
Each and every seed,
Telling its own story.

As each flower blooms,
And then continues to grow,
More of its strength and knowledge,
Continues to show.

And like a garden,
It blooms much more fair,
When carefully tended,
By those who care.

Once in a while,
You come across a friend,
Who is beautiful as a flower,
With a good heart to lend.

So I picked this flower,
And pulled it apart,
And soon all its pieces,
Grew into my heart.

But what I realized,
Is that this flower that grew,
Was not leaves and petals,
But pieces of you.

Your love and kindness,
Your strength and power,
Have helped me grow,
Into my own little flower.

And now with our friendship,
I'll never let go,
And we can help others,
To flower and grow.

ONE STEP BEHIND

Each day is an endless parade to a destination unknown,
Life leading you on an unmarked path not clearly shown.
Some parts of your path may be rugged and steep,
And others have crevasses infinitely deep.

There are times on your journey where to go, you know not,
For in a dense fog, your body is caught.
Unable to see what lies ahead of the way,
Uncertain to when this haze will eventually stray.

There are times when i am caught in this confusion, too,
Not knowing where to go, not knowing what to do.
But no matter how dense the fog when I turn I see,
Your smiling face looking back at me.

With reassurance in your glance,
I know you'll always be there,
Only one step behind,
each step taken with care.

I hope that you know, when you are lost in the mist,
Felling unloved, alone and unmissed,
That if you glance back, you will find,
That I will be there, only one step behind.

Rejection

Rejection

Crystal eyes shine

When they’re brimming with tears

What did you think

When you walked away?

Was she just another girl?

Does she need to grow up?

Was she just another friend?

of a friend

of a friend

Can you not forget her

or get her out of your head?

Is she just a girl

Another girl you lead

That you lead on

Rejection

GOOD_BYE MY ANGEL DEAR

GOOD_BYE MY ANGEL DEAR

My days draw long and weary

When you’re no longer near.

Confidence is filled with questions

Strength replaced with fear.

The assuredness that I awake with each day

Is nowhere to found,

As though my dreams and aspirations

Were buried underground.

I hear your voice being carried by wind

Like your fingers through my hair.

I close my eyes and remember you kiss

And wish that you were there.

So with nothing left but one thing to say

To resolve my heartbreak here,

Good-bye my darling and my love

Good-bye my angel dear.

Mask

Mask

Every day I wear a mask

To cover up the fear

To hide the insecurities

Which are unwelcome here

I want them all to be fooled

I hope no one can see

This mask I put on to hide

My personality

Once I tried to take it off

To show what I hid inside

But it seemed no one understood

And much preferred the lies.

Memories

Memories

It’s hard when someone you love dies

because you don’t want to say good-bye.

You may feel confused, upset or sad

and maybe sometimes a little mad.

But you must remember

the times you had together…

Memories.

Memories will last forever.

And so you’ll always be together,

deep down inside your heart,

even though you’re far apart.

HAVE YOU EVER

HAVE YOU EVER

Have you ever lived my life?

Spent one minute in my shoes?

If you haven’t then tell me why

You judge me as you do.

Have you ever woken up in the morning

Wondering if this was your last day on Earth?

Have you ever left your house

Unsure if you’d return?

Have you ever seen your friend get shot

Outside his favourite store?

Have you ever seen a friend die

From drugs he’d never used before?

Have you ever seen your mom get beat up

By your stepdad messed up on booze?

Have you ever had an unwanted pregnancy

Forcing you to choose?

Have you ever sat beneath the stars

Hoping God will hear?

Have you ever seen your friend drive away

After way too many beers?

Have you ever had a friend

Experiment with weed?

Have you ever covered up guilt

By doing a good deed?

Have you ever considered suicide

As the only way?

Have you ever tried to hide yourself

Behind the things you say?

Have you ever wanted to protect

Your friends and everyone in sight?

Have you ever felt such pain

That you cried yourself to sleep at night?

Have you ever lived my life,

Spent one minute in my shoes?

If you haven’t, then tell me why

You judge me as you do.
